About The Foundation


The Foundation’s Mission


The Foundation was formed to provide funding and other means of support to AKCS, to provide a school where students thrive academically and socially through a strong educational program based upon a structured curriculum supported by discipline and mutual respect. 

The initial and continuing focus of the Foundations is to support the educational pursuits of students by providing funding for programming, facility enhancements and supplemental facility resources. Realizing that Alice King Community School and its families benefit from participation in the greater community the Foundation also endeavors to provide opportunities to enrich the quality of life in the surrounding region.


The Foundation will provide further support to the School through the issuance of the Bonds, the proceeds of which will be lent to the Foundation to finance the acquisition, renovation, improvement and equipping of the Facility for lease or lease-purchase to the School.


The Board of Directors of the Foundation meets monthly, and more often when needed.  In addition to the Board of Directors, there are nine additional members who attend the monthly meetings.

Dear AKCS Families,  

Investing in our school through the AKCS Foundation is an important part of our community. This month there is an opportunity to actualize that support by participating in the United Way (UW) giving campaign.

Many employers in central New Mexico participate in the United Way of Central New Mexico’s campaign. We ask you consider supporting our school and pledge through your employer’s payroll deduction, designating that donation to AKCS, in any amount you choose. Please see the attached UW Donation formfor payroll deduction options, such as $20 a month or a one-time giving amount. Contact your employer’s payroll office or Human Resources department for questions and ask if they offer matching funds.

Through UW charitable giving, your contribution will make positive changes and improvements to our school, such as playground improvements, classroom acoustical dampening boards, technology resources, building maintenance and repairs.

We would appreciate your support this coming year, with any amount you choose to give. Each workplace UW campaign is different, but usually campaigns run now through mid-December. For questions please call United Way, 247-3671.

We have so much to be proud of as we continue to provide an inclusive educational program for all students in a safe and rigorous learning environment. Your care and passion to help our school and children plays a huge part in AKCS's impact in our community and beyond.
