Ms. Mary Proue's 1st/2nd Grade Class
Hello Alice King Community! I am so excite do announce that I am the new 1st/2nd grade teacher here at AKCS! What a wonderful group of people you all are. I have felt so welcome, and am sure that best is yet to come.
Please allow me to share a little bit about myself. I am from Santa Fe New Mexico, and recently moved to Albuquerque. I am a part of a wonderful church community at Elevate Ministries ABQ, and have the opportunity to sing on the worship team there. I'm not married and I don't have children of my own, so I am grateful that you all share your children with me. It's why I teach. These children are so precious and I am committed to their success in both academic and social emotional development.
I started my career in teaching at the Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences as an Assistant Teacher. I taught 1st grade math and handwriting and assisted with the 1/2, 3/4, and Middle School Drama class. From there I decided I was ready for my own class and spent 4 years teaching 3rd grade at Cesar Chavez Elementary in Santa Fe. An opportunity arose to teach Middle School History at Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences, so I decided to embrace it. Although I enjoyed this teaching position, I decided to move to Albuquerque which caused a long commute, so I decided to look for work here. Now I am working here at AKCS which in my opinion is one of the best schools in Albuquerque.
What a blessing to be able to work here. I am looking forward to what this experience has to offer me both as a teacher and as a lifelong learner. I'm also looking forward to being able to serve my students and all of our community members. Go Roadrunners!
